Wind Song

She walks through the forest timber
Her breath quickening, shallowing with anticipation
Spurred by her restless mind

She comes here often to lose her troubles in the shadows of the trees
Ancient giants that grow in a complex tangle of exuberant beauty

The gentle sound of the waterfall cleanses her spirit
And lush greenness washes away the weariness from her heart
Golden light breaks through the green canopy and danced about her cheek
Warming her face

She hopes to catch wisps of a faraway wind song
Her needs are an unceasing storm
A burning, insatiable tempest that devours the echoes and disjointed vignettes
Of lyrics that hide in the forest winds

All around her hangs a profound silence where the whispers of the wind are like a shout
And she can hear her Passion's grief as it weeps gently to her heart

The whispers of the wind calms her
Calls to her
Becomes a sweet, enticing song filling her tearful eyes and
Disturbing the chaotic whirl of her emotions

The cooing hum of the wind song pleases her desires and the
Dangling vines adore her lips
The soft leaves caress her skin and the
Musty greenish aroma of the forest delights her being

She surrenders completely to the song's melody
And her dreams mingle with the sweet scent of the trees

The wind song grows in its loveliness
Becoming a symphony of repressed desires and memories that wells up from her soul
So tranquil the lyrics become it wrings tears from the moss covered stones

She begins to echo the endearing song
The lyrical rise and fall of her clear young voice resonating through the timber spirits
Singing along with the forest choir and becoming dazed by the stillness of the forest green

Her soul leaves her body and dances with the specters in the treetops
Becoming a disembodied spirit desperately seeking love among the ruins of her life

Her passions melt into the soul of the ancient trees

As the day grows old, a cool breeze whips up and carries time away
A dark shroud gently descends upon the forest as sunlight flees before the night's dark reign

She knows she must leave
So she deeply inhales the last few fading notes of the song
And reluctantly walks the path back to her home

The wind song still on her lips
