Poet's Biography I was born on May 21 in Chicago. I lived in several places through the years, but I returned to live in the Chicago area in 1991. I am divorced and have no children. I work as a software developer. I come from a family of artists. My father was a professional opera singer and my sister is a fine arts painter. I have been writing poems since early 1999. I like to write poems about love, sorrow and despair. I wrote all the poems on my web site. I am inspired by music. I listen to music while I compose poems. In fact, I MUST have music playing to write. It creates the mood I need to find inspiration. Some of my favorites are Lisa Gerrard (Gladiator movie sound track, Dead Can Dance), Sarah McLachlan, Stevie Nicks, and Loreena McKennit. -MD Burke
